Why prescribe compounds?

Compounding lets you tailor the strength, dosage form and ingredients to the patient in front of you.

At EpitomeRx, compounded medications are prepared in our laboratory using established quality practices and appropriate controls. Our pharmacist collaborates closely with you to develop customized solutions for individualized patient care.

Benefits of compounding

Customized formulations

Active ingredients and strengths tailored to the specific needs of each patient.

Combination medications

Multiple compatible medications combined into a single preparation when appropriate.

Flexible dosage forms

Capsules, oral suspensions, creams, gels, troches and suppositories. Sublingual, nasal and otic forms on request.

Options during shortages

Alternatives when a medication is on the FDA drug shortage list or has been discontinued.

Fewer excipients

Preparations made without certain dyes, preservatives or other excipients when appropriate.

Alternative administration

Forms for children, older adults and patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules.

Bases chosen for the formula

We use PCCA bases designed for specific jobs, such as hormone delivery through the skin, acne and rosacea-prone skin, sensitive areas and mucosal use, many with published permeation and stability data.

COA on every lot

Every active ingredient lot comes with a certificate of analysis, and we follow California State Board of Pharmacy, FDA and USP standards.
