How to e-prescribe to EpitomeRx

Send compounded prescriptions from your EMR in four steps. We read every note to pharmacy.

We specialize in compounding. Please send commercially manufactured medications to your patient's regular pharmacy. We currently prepare nonsterile compounds only (no injectables or eye drops).

1. Find the pharmacy

Search for the pharmacy under California:

EpitomeRx, Inc.
140 E Santa Clara St, Ste 23
Arcadia, CA 91006NCPDP ID #5689584Surescripts ID #PKX56895841126537632

2. Enter complete patient information

Please include all of the following to avoid delays:

  • Full name
  • Home address
  • Phone number
  • Date of birth
  • Email address
  • Drug allergies (or "NKDA" if none)

3. Select the medication and directions

  • Search for one of the active ingredients and choose a compound option if your EMR has one.
  • If you can't find the medication, select the closest option and clarify in the notes (step 4).
  • Choose the correct quantity or volume to dispense.
  • Enter clear directions (sig) so the patient knows exactly how to take or apply the medication.

4. Add notes for the pharmacy

We always review the "Notes to Pharmacy" section. Use it to specify the full compound if it wasn't listed, include important clinical details and confirm allergies.

Similar to a commercial product? If a commercially available product exists, tell us why your patient needs the compounded version, for example an allergy to an inactive ingredient or a strength or dosage form that isn't made. California regulations require our pharmacist to verify and document that the compound makes a clinically significant difference for the patient.

Same drug and strength as a commercial product? Add one line to Notes to Pharmacy, for example:
  • "Allergy to [dye, filler or preservative] in the commercial product; compound without it."
  • "Peanut allergy; progesterone capsules without peanut oil."
  • "Unable to swallow tablets; needs an oral suspension."
  • "Needs a slow-release capsule, which isn't commercially available."
  • "Needs [ingredients] combined in one preparation; commercial products are separate."
  • "Commercial product is discontinued or on the FDA drug shortage list."
