What is oral micronized progesterone?
Micronized progesterone is progesterone ground into very fine particles so it absorbs well. Providers commonly prescribe it at bedtime, often alongside estrogen therapy.
Why compound progesterone capsules?
The most common reasons are a peanut allergy, a slow-release capsule your provider has requested, or a strength that is not commercially available.
Safety information
Compounded hormones are prepared for an individual patient from a prescription and are not FDA approved. FDA-approved bioidentical estradiol and progesterone products also exist; your provider decides which option fits your care.
Progesterone can cause drowsiness. Take it as directed, usually at bedtime.
