What is a vaginal tablet triturate?
A triturate is a small molded tablet made with a measured amount of medication. Inserted into the vagina, it dissolves to release the dose locally. A common schedule is nightly for two weeks, then twice a week, according to your provider's directions.
Why is it compounded?
Estriol is not available as a manufactured product in the United States, so it must be prepared by a compounding pharmacy.
Safety information
Compounded hormones are prepared for an individual patient from a prescription and are not FDA approved. FDA-approved bioidentical estradiol and progesterone products also exist; your provider decides which option fits your care.
This list isn't all-inclusive. Your provider can prescribe other strengths, combinations or dosage forms. Call us at 626.631.6150 and we'll work with you and your provider to find an option that fits.
Common questions
How is this different from estriol vaginal cream?
Both deliver estriol locally. The tablet is a premeasured dose with no applicator; the cream is measured with an applicator. Your provider decides which fits your care.
